Resting in a rural community, Educare Hikurangi is more than just an early childhood centre; it’s a place where tamariki (children) can run, explore, and be active every day.

With farms nearby and open spaces, we embrace the unique needs of local and rural whānau (families), including those travelling from Hukerenui and the Whananaki area. We cherish our strong community bonds, where whānau and kaiako (teachers) work hand in hand to support each child’s early education journey.

Active learning in action

At Educare Hikurangi, we believe in the power of exploration and play. Our tamariki enjoy a variety of enriching experiences, from weekly excursions and library visits to bike days and trips to local tennis courts. We understand that building confidence and trying new things is vital for their growth.

Back at our early childhood centre, children move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor play, having fun on the grass, in the sand, and in our fort. We provide plenty of space for them to engage in activities or simply take a moment to connect with nature.

Like a second home

With a smaller, close-knit group of tamariki, our centre offers a genuinely homely atmosphere. We know how important it is for kaiako to understand families deeply, and we take the time to foster strong, supportive relationships that extend from home to our centre.

Here, older and younger tamariki naturally connect, creating a nurturing environment where everyone feels valued and supported. We strive to ensure every child feels known and at home at Educare Hikurangi.
