Starting your Educare journey

Beginning at a new early learning centre is an important step for both tamariki and whānau. We know that every child settles in their own way, which is why we take the time to get to know your child, their routines, interests, strengths, and individual needs before they start.

From your first visit to your child’s first day, our kaiako work alongside you to create a positive and reassuring transition. By building strong relationships from the beginning, we help children feel safe, supported, and ready to explore, learn, and play.

Settling in with confidence

Once your enrolment is confirmed, we’ll arrange opportunities for you and your child to visit the centre before they begin. These settling visits help children become familiar with new spaces, meet our kaiako, and start building a sense of belonging.

Every child’s settling journey is different. Our team provides gentle encouragement, comfort, and support as children become confident in their new environment. We stay closely connected with whānau throughout this process, sharing updates and working together to ensure your child feels secure and cared for.

Supporting your child's journey together

Some children settle quickly, while others need a little more time. Whatever your child’s experience, we’ll work closely with you to understand what helps them feel safe and supported.

Open communication is an important part of every transition. Our kaiako will keep you informed about your child’s progress, celebrate milestones with you, and develop individual support strategies when needed. We value partnering with whānau to create positive experiences that help children grow in confidence and develop a strong sense of belonging.

Transitioning through every stage

Transitioning through every stage

Your child’s journey at Educare is full of important milestones, and we’re here to support each one. Transitions don’t stop after your child starts with us. As children grow and move through different age groups and learning environments, we take a thoughtful and individual approach to every new stage of their journey.

Whether your child is moving from our under two space, to the toddler room, transitioning into our preschool environment, or joining us from another early learning centre, our kaiako work closely with whānau to make each step feel familiar and positive. We take time to build relationships, create connections, and help children develop confidence in their new environment before each transition takes place.

By understanding every child’s unique needs and pace, we help transitions feel less like change and more like an exciting opportunity to grow, learn, and strengthen their sense of belonging.
