Big little days in Pōkeno

At Educare Pōkeno, we believe in the importance of a gentle pace throughout the day, allowing tamariki (children) to settle in, play, and find their special connections. Our centre is a home away from home for our tamariki. Here, relationships blossom over time, and you’ll often hear the cheerful chatter of children engaged in play, while our caring kaiako (teachers) are ever-present to notice what sparks their interest and help guide those moments into enriching learning experiences.

Room for wonder

Our thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces provide a wealth of opportunities for tamariki to explore, whether they are engaged in big, active play or enjoying quiet moments to themselves.

Our expansive outdoor area invites preschool children to run freely, take safe risks, and develop their social skills through play. We also cherish the moments when toddlers and preschoolers come together each day, enabling younger tamariki to learn from their older peers and older tamariki to practice leading with kindness and care.

Growing in their own way

Our three age-based rooms are designed to help tamariki feel settled while they build their independence at their own pace. Our dedicated kaiako bring a beautiful diversity of cultures, languages, and experiences to our community, reflecting the richness of Pōkeno.

We’re committed to keeping whānau (families) connected to their child’s early education journey through our online platform and personalised profile books. For our older tamariki, our school readiness programme is all about building confidence, independence and familiarity, so they feel prepared and supported when it’s time to take the big step towards school.
